This measure is closely linked to the 'Smart mobility hubs for Potsdam's commuter flows'. Here, the train stations themselves and their surrounding environments will be the focus. At four model locations that are relevant to commuter traffic – Griebnitzsee, Golm, Pirschheide and Potsdam main station – innovative elements from the fields of 'quality of stay' and 'mobility connection by bicycle' will be tested.

The focus is on climate-friendly solutions that incorporate digital components. Green urban furniture, elements for playing and relaxing, smart street lighting, pathways and climate-resilient soil renewal in the immediate vicinity of train stations will improve the quality of stay at the stations and highlight them as key public spaces. For the test solutions involving greening, lighting elements and pathways, sensors will be used to enable resource-efficient supply (watering, electricity) and make the effectiveness of the test solutions measurable.

In addition, the combined use of bicycles and public transport will be made more user-friendly through innovative approaches, such as bicycle parking solutions with partial roof greening or smart repair services at the stations. Further development of the DB Rad+ app is also planned, with a public hackathon taking place for this purpose. A hackathon is an event where digital possibilities are brainstormed and extended.
